Mercator vs Peter Maps
Today in class we were supposed to research the difference between Peters projection maps and the traditional Mercator Map. The Mercator Map was made in 1569. The Mercator map was the standard map projection for navigation. The Peters Projection World Map is one of the most stimulating and controversial images of the world. It is a rectangular map projection that maps all areas such that they have the correct sizes relative to each other. The map is not used for navigation as much as the Mercator Map is because the Mercator Map is used for more roads and streets. The Galls Peter Projection Map is more used for a study to see how far certain things are away from each other. Even though they are both maps they are still used for different things so not every map is used for the same things.
